I went up to London last night for the private view of Artistic UK‘s latest group exhibition, ’50/50’, a theme “embracing the possibilities of the future in all their outcomes, good and bad. The space in time where everything is both likely and unlikely. The uncanny”
Artistic are a non-profit organisation supporting emerging artists and hold regular exhibitions on a given theme, usually in London. The group of artists exhibiting has expanded in recent months and includes people working in a range of media and genres. What I really love about the art that Artistic bring together is how full of meaning and resonance the pieces are, whether through political comment or introspective moodiness, it’s thought-provoking stuff!
The exhibition is being held in The Crow’s Nest Gallery, a large exciting space in White City, covered in urban art on the outside and with three large rooms full of paintings, sculptures, print, textiles and installations inside.
I was very fortunate to have a friend exhibiting too, Sarah Goswell of Sarah Goswell Art, a brilliant painter of animals and colour who rescued me and gave me a lift to the venue after my son and I were stranded on overheating trains on broken tracks. I enjoyed looking round with her and talking to other exhibiting artists Sarah Carpenter www.instagram.com/sfatexas/ and Jana Nicole www.instagram.com/jananicole_studio/ who were both inspiring with their discussion about how they work, turning out creative ideas very quickly.
I was really happy to see my two paintings in a gallery setting and really enjoyed the evening.
If you fancy going along to visit, the exhibition runs until 23rd August though it is CLOSED ON MONDAYS.
